Exploring the Rocky Shore Up Close!
I was lucky enough to explore one of Orkney in the UK’s beaches recently, and took along a macro lense. It was a great little beach just a short 10 minute bus jouney from Kirkwall, called Scapa. Theres also a nice whiskey distilerry on the cliffs next to the beach but not being a lover of whiskey that was lost on me.
Anyway… since I have always been obsessed with the small critters that inhabit the rocky shores and wanted to make a video to share this all with you. MY ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE was seeing barnacles feeding. What lovely intricate ‘cirri’ they have to feed with that contrast with such a robust shell. They are truly wonderful little organisms. In this video we also meet nigel, but youll have to watch for that!
But enough rambling, please just watch the video yourself (and if you get fed up with my voiceover just mute and enjoy anyway! – its well worth a watch just to see the barnacles feed!).
