Lugworm  – Arenicola marina

Lugworm, the favourite bait of fisherman! When the tide goes out and you see the sand covered in lumps made of little winding tubes, well these worms are what make them. They live in the sand and form a U shaped burrow, where they eat sand and get all the nutrients from it. The cast thats left if them pushing the sand back out the other end and to the surface as they each more sand to continue to make the U shaped borrow. Did just next to the cast, and youll find the lugworm that made it – holding these will also stain your hands yellow (washes off eventually)!
