As winter has now well and truly drawn to an end, I can finally start to put in motion all the plans for this site and my YouTube channel that I’ve been dreaming about over the long winter.

The first of a few changes you will be seeing soon, is the launch of a mini-documentary series, which I have decided to title ‘When the Tide Retreats’. This will hopefully bring everyone up close and personal to the lives of the creatures that decide to part from the sea at low tide! From crazy crabs, killer starfish and sandy worms, I want to share their story with you!

So how is this any different from the rockpooling vlogs I do? Well my rockpooling vlogs require relativity little planning, I just rock up, talk about what I find and then edit that together. I have found this such a great confidence boosting step, but I’m limited to only talking about what I find on that day. But the main reason I’m swapping to a document style video, is that in a few weeks I’ll be coming up to having posted every week for a whole year. At this point, making videos has become just part of my everyday routine, and I very much enjoy it. Much more then I ever thought I would. So I’m here to tell you, I’m not going to stop. I am really committed to pushing myself, making the best content, and finding the best ways to share our wonderful wildlife.

This documentary series is a chance for me to write a detailed scripts, getting in more educational content with hopefully a gripping story behind it. It’s a chance for me to practice scripted talking to camera, which will hopefully mean less waffle and more time for odd factoids!

These videos will not be posted on a regular schedule, they will appear every Wednesday still but scattered in between scientific art videos and less time consuming vlogs or behind the scenes videos.

The first instalment is exploring a sandy shore. I filmed it on the beach I have spent the most time on in my life and thought it was an appropriate place to start. Even from this one episode I have learned what else I need to film or where scripts could be improved. But I have a wide range of videos planned, mainly rockyshore ones if I’m honest, to share with you over the summer.

So this just leads me to talk about the importance of YOU in this process. I want to make these documentaries as widely appealing as possible, to reach and inspire as many people as possible! But I feel like I’m making these in the dark, with no professional experience at all. So I am relying of your honest opinion on how to improve, what you’d like to see and anything you loved or disliked about it. So PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, share share share with your friends, mums, postmen, dogs, and tweet me or comment what you think. I really excited to show you what I’ve got planned, and I would love of you could come on the journey with me!
